  • The animal production division of Poldanor SA is among the leading pig producers in Poland. Its production is based on high-quality breeding material with a very high health status.

The organization of pig breeding at Poldanor SA is based on a three-stage production concept, in which the production cycle is divided into three phases:
    - sow farms (18,000 sows)
    - piglet breeding farms (54,000 piglets)
    - finisher farms (94,000 finishers)

Sow farms are where the piglets are born. They stay there for four weeks, and during that time they are fed by sows. After four weeks, when piglets reach a weight of around 7.5 kg, they are transported on carts to piglet transportation trucks. This procedure is in accordance with the minimal stress (MS) strategy implemented by Poldanor.

A weaner farm is another name for a piglet breeding farm. The animals kept there weigh from 7 to 30 kg. Upon arrival from sow farms, piglets are always placed in empty and clean spaces. The conditions in the coops are very good: half of the floor area is heated, and the other half is covered with a metal grate. After almost eight weeks the piglets are moved to finisher farms.

These farms ensure perfect conditions for their growth. When they arrive there, they weigh about 30 kg, and by the time they leave they have grown to 100 kg. The pigs live in bright and spacious coops and may feed freely. Finally, the animals are sent to slaughterhouses, such as the one operated by our sister-company Zakłady Mięsne Prime Food Sp. z o.o. in Przechlewo.

All Poldanor SA farms comply with EU regulations, and the animals kept there are under the constant care of a veterinary surgeon.
