WORLD-CLASS TECHNOLOGY ON POLISH FIELDS
Poldanor SA runs three crop production plants: in Giżyno (Kalisz Pomorski District), Zegrze Pomorskie (Świeszyno District) and Pawłówko (Przechlewo District). On these farms, the company efficiently grows crops in order to satisfy the feed demand of its pig farms. Moreover, Poldanor SA constantly invests in environment-friendly production based on cutting-edge technology. In this way it actively engages in Polish nature conservation. Crop production at our company is a combination of modern agricultural technology and respect for the environment. We cultivate over 13,000 hectares of land, and we are leaders in the ploughless tillage system. We mainly grow cereals such as wheat, triticale, rye and corn. Additional crops include rape and sunflowers.
Our farms are equipped with the latest agricultural equipment produced by world-renowned brands, including Challenger, Massey Ferguson, CLAAS, HORSCH, BREDAL, Metaltech, and INUMA. For many years, the
Global
Positioning
System (
GPS) has been successfully used by Poldanor SA. The first device employing this advanced solution was a vehicle used for precise collection of soil samples and field measurement. GPS is not only used for determining fertilization needs. It has found broader application in seed sowing and land cultivation. In an era of a drastic drop in the profitability of agriculture, the use of GPS helps reduce costs of cultivation, fertilization and conservation of crops, as well as minimizing negative impact on the environment.
One of the means by which we maximize our crops is through rational use of natural fertilizers such as liquid and solid manure. Fertilization is performed by applying manure in periods when the plants are in greatest need of nutrients from the fertilizer. These fertilizers are stored in tanks which comply with the highest environmental standards.
We are happy to cooperate with local communities, particularly with farmers. Our experts offer industrial training, which receives a great deal of attention. We hold meetings of cereal producers from all over Europe, during which we have the opportunity to discuss our experiences in modern farming.
Goals of Crop Production
The goals of the Crop Production Department:
- better use of natural fertilizer – liquid manure
- reduction of odour emission during liquid manure application
- reduced consumption of diesel oil;
- the application of well-tested solutions will enable a reduction in consumption by a further 30%, which in the case of Poldanor would result in carbon dioxide emission reduction by 1,100 tonnes per year, from tractors alone replacement of old-type tractors and machines with newer ones equipped with fuel-efficient advanced-technology engines with limited combustion gas emission research and tests in the application of combustion gas emission-reducing technology research and tests in the application of biofuel, which is combusted without producing fumes introduction of new plant varieties with enhanced resistance, which would help reduce use of crop protection chemicals by 30% work on the implementation of solutions enabling precise dosage of fertilizers through broader use of GPS in machinery, as well as the use of autopilot mode in tractors (to date it is used in combine harvesters);
- by using GPS and autopilot, the working width of the machines can be used to a precision of almost 100%;
- at current field widths ranging from 8 to 24 metres, precise operation of the vehicles may be very difficult, which increases the risk of overlapping, resulting in increased consumption of fertilizer and fuel, whereas precise dosage would allow a 10% reduction of costs improving staff qualifications improving management methods in the Crop Production Department
