Poldanor’s strategy is based on the development of efficient and sustainable production and respect for the environment at the same time. Therefore the company systematically invests in environment-friendly technologies. Its strategy stresses the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility, both with reference to the external community and the company’s employees. This fact is confirmed by the receipt of such awards as “Pantheon of Polish Ecology” and “Business Fair Play”.
The Company started working on the concept of biogas plants in 1999. In 2005, Poldanor built and launched the first agricultural biogas plant in Poland, and thus began the implementation of a programme which provides for the development of a total of 14 such plants next to pig farms operated by the company. To 2011, Poldanor has set up 8 working biogas plants in Poland, with a total power of 7.4 MWe.
In 2010, the plants generated about 33,000 MWh of “green” electricity, corresponding to the demand of approx. 10,000 households, which helped reduce emissions of greenhouse gases by the equivalent of more than 68,000 tons of carbon dioxide. It is expected that in 2011 the plants will produce 50,000 MWh of electricity (16,000 households) and an emission reduction of 170,000 t.
The planning, design, and supervision of development of Poldanor’s biogas plants, as well as their operation, are managed by a team of qualified experts from the energy, construction, and biogas production sectors.
Poldanor actively cooperates with institutions and organizations dealing with renewable energy, as well as with academic research facilities in Poland and Denmark, with regard to the promotion and development of Renewable Energy Sources. |
