The system of environmental management in Poldanor is part of general company management, covering quality viewed in the light of animal welfare, natural environment, workplace environment, and our position in local communities.
Each farm is assessed not just in terms of animal production performance and costs, but also in terms of conformance to the Best Available Techniques (BAT) and proper execution of the procedures of supervising, reporting and monitoring environmental impact, including in particular:
- Energy consumption and sources (electricity, heat, fuels),
- Water consumption,
- Quantity of waste generated by basic and supplementary activities,
- Atmospheric emission of gases and dusts,
- Quantity of generated sewage and other types of liquid pollutants,
- Quantity of generated liquid manure,
- Level of generated noise.
This assessment indicates necessary actions for the minimization of the environmental impact of production, and defines the direction of further investment at each facility, which is in line with the company’s strategy and translates into the implementation of modern breeding technologies employing renewable energy sources, modernization of existing technical systems in order to improve their energy efficiency and reduce water consumption, rationalization of asbestos removal, as well as care for the condition of greenery and forests through implementation of our own afforestation plan.
