| Poldanor's eighth farm biogas plant underway |
|
On 20 August 2010, Poldanor celebrated starting to build its eighth farm biogas plant. The plant will be situated near company’s pig farm in Giżyno, Kalisz Pomorski Municipality. The first spade in the ground was put among others by Kalisz Pomorski Mayor, Michał Hypki, and City Council Chairwoman, Halina Ginalska, along with Poldanor's representatives and a group of building contractors that will carry out the project. Biogas production in Giżyno will be produced by methane fermentation of biomass from the farm, supplemented with plant material. Yearly, the plant will produce around 4.2m m3 biogas which mainly consists of methane. The biogas, processed in a combined power and heating station of 1,063 kW and 1,103 kW respectively, will supply around 9.3m kWh electricity and around 9.6m kWh heat on a yearly basis. Biofuels contributes to reduction of CO2 emission while the combined power and heating station assures efficient use of biomass. Giżyno-based biogas plant is estimated to supply around 2,000 typical households with electricity. Launching of the investment succeeded only thanks to close co-operation with the local authorities. Giżyno biogas plant testifies to Poldanor’s leadership among farm energy producers on Polish soil. The start-up of the plant is scheduled to as early as spring 2011. So far, Poldanor has operated five biogas plants. Four of them are situated in Pomerania Province, i.e. in Płaszczyca, Pawłówko, Kujanki, and Koczała, and one in West Pomerania Province, i.e. in Nacław. At present, further biogas plants are being built in Świelino, Uniechówek, and namely Giżyno. By the end of 2012, Poldanor’s tvelve farm biogas plants will have been completed. ![]() ![]() |
