| Poldanor to start eighth biogas plant |
|
On 23 September 2011, the village of Giżyno, West Pomerania Province, saw an inauguration of Poldanor’s another agricultural biogas plant. This has already been eighth plant in Poland and third investment of this kind in West Pomerania. Giżyno plant will produce biogas which then will be converted into electricity and heat. With its capacity of 1,063 kW, the total capacity of all Poldanor’s biogas plants has reached 7.4 MW. The event was attended among others by Minister-Counselor from the Danish Embassy in Poland, Flemming Duus Mathiesen, Deputy Director in the Department of Agricultural Markets, Poland’s Ministry of Agriculture, Kazimierz Żmuda, official from the Energy Agency, Denmark’s Ministry of Climate and Energy, Mihai Brasoveanu, member of West Pomerania local government, Jan Krawczuk, Vicepresident of Polish Agricultural Property Agency, Jarosław Denkiewicz, as well as members of Kalisz Pomorski City Council and Drawsko Pomorskie County. Additionally, we received local officials from the region in Ukraine where our sister company Danosha operates. The biogas plant is fed with liquid manure supplemented with maize silage, plant wastes and by-products from crop and animal feed production. The electricity will be used on site in the plant and nearby pig farm, while the surplus is to be sold to energy companies. Similarly, the waste heat from cooling the engine will be used in the plant, pig farm, and, if possible, by external consumers. By inaugurating yet another biogas plant, we consequently pursue our goal. A vital part of it is efficient and sustainable farm production with respect for the natural environment. We introduce modern and environment-friendly technologies and aim to build further biogas plants beside most of our animal farms. In this way, we seek to satisfy our customers’ needs, i.e. food safety and renewable energy, says Grzegorz Brodziak, Poldanor’s Chairman of Management Board ![]() ![]() ![]() |

“… Poldanor SA is a modern and environment-friendly agricultural company. By providing employment for a few hundreds of people, you are a significant employer in Człuchów County, which considerably reduces the unemployment rate and improves the quality of life of the local community. I am also aware that the company actively participates in the social and economic life of the county by providing financial and non-financial support for the construction of roads and other elements of infrastructure, which pleases me immensely, as an MP of this region.”
