| Poldanor S.A. received all the required integrated permits for its swine farms. |
|
The fact that the authorities issued all the integrated permits for the farms owned by Poldanor SA, the swine manufacturer, confirms that the company runs its activity in accordance with the European Union’s environmental protection standards. The integrated permit for swine farm in Świelino, West Pomerania province, issued on November 9th, 2005, ended the process of obtaining integrated certificates for swine farms by Poldanor S.A. The whole process took more than one year. Thus Poldanor obtained integrated permits for eleven farms, i.e. all its farms concerned by this demand. “All of our farms have always met strict requirements for environmental protection. It was officially confirmed by Polish authorities, which issued all the required permits. Pursuant to the Polish and European Union’s law, eleven of the seventeen farms used by our company require integrated permits and they all were given such permits,” says Tom Axelgaard, President of Poldanor S.A. In Poland, a lot of owners of swine and poultry farms wait very long time for integrated permits issued by the province or commune authorities responsible for environmental protection. It is estimated that throughout Poland there are more than 100 big swine farms, which are currently attempting to obtain integrated permits. Poldanor is going to continue the introduction of new and better standards related to animal and plant production in its farms. The example is the first modern biogasworks in Poland, opened in Pawłówko in June 2005. Our intention is to build similar biogasworks by all of our farms in the years to come. The last integrated permit that has just been issued for Poldanor puts an end to statements on forced closing of its farms, which were erroneously circulated by “Fagbladet”, the magazine issued by 3F Danish trade union. In June 2005, Poldanor brought a case against 3F Danish trade union to the Press Committee for Complaints in Denmark. The complaint was caused by the media campaign conducted by 3F during which a lot of untrue and undocumented accusations concerning the company’s activity were presented. We expect that the Press Committee will have made a ruling on this case by the end of 2005. See below: Overall information on integrated permits for Poldanor S.A. farms. For additional information contact: Grzegorz Brodziak, vice-president of Poldanor S.A., phone 059-833 43 61. Integrated permits for swine farms used by Poldanor S.A. The integrated permits are issued upon checking by governmental authorities to what extent farms are adjusted to the widely comprehended best available techniques for breeding pigs. Thus the permits are a kind of certificate to prove that the company runs its production processes properly, implements the latest technologies and prevents from environmental pollutions in an integrated manner. “… Poldanor SA is a modern and environment-friendly agricultural company. By providing employment for a few hundreds of people, you are a significant employer in Człuchów County, which considerably reduces the unemployment rate and improves the quality of life of the local community. I am also aware that the company actively participates in the social and economic life of the county by providing financial and non-financial support for the construction of roads and other elements of infrastructure, which pleases me immensely, as an MP of this region.”
